On July 10, My Lan Tran, Exsaitamaecutive Director of the Virginia Asian Chamber of Commerce was publicly recognized by the Chairman of the International Sister City of Saitama (A Prefecture outskirt of Tokyo, Japan) – a 20 year old twin sister City of  Richmond at the International State Sister Cities annual meeting held at the Richmond Times Dispatch newspaper headquarters in Richmond.

During the meeting, Miss Catherine Nexsen, the Saitama – Richmond Sister City International Program Chairperson presented a thorough summary of the program achievements of the program and how the leadership of the Asian Chamber together with its sister agency the Virginia Asian Foundation (VAF) was actively involved in the program by offering to host the students from Saitama, Japan as they visited Virginia in recent years. VACC and VAF participated in all important activities of this cultural exchange program since the past years during its most active program implementation period specifically after the 2009 Tsunami disaster that destroyed a large part of Japan. The event was standing room only with a state delegation of 75 attendants.
