On Monday morning of November 17, 2014, Mr. Tinh Phan, Chairman of the Virginia Asian Chamber of Commerce, appeared in front of the Board of Barbers and Cosmetology of the Virginia Department Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) in order to speak to the Board to request that the reinstatement of the Vietnamese and Korean languages for Nail Technician written Exams be made as soon as possible.

The reinstatement of the Vietnamese and Korean languages in the Nail Technician written tests is to maintain this strong work force, preventing potential illegal work performance that could occur due to the language barrier that these technicians must encounter in taking tests only in the English language.

After discussion, the Board unanimously approved the motion to proceed with the reinstatement of Vietnamese, Korean and Spanish languages to be used for the newly established Nail Technician written tests in the Commonwealth of Virginia and further directed the Service Contractor to have the tests ready for use in Vietnamese, Korean and Spanish languages in sixty (60) calendar days from this approval day.
